CYCLOVIA! Sun, Oct 27, 2024 :: 9ish-2:30ish
From Greer: For any newcomers - Cyclovia is a great event. We sit in a location and just play our hearts out for about 4 hrs. It is like an extended practice with an audience. But the audience is mobile - people may stop and listen for a while and move on. It is a great event for our beginners - absolutely no stress. We will be selecting songs that we already know pretty well. We usually get some new members due to Cyclovia. It is tremendously fun.
Details:
It’s time for CYCLOVIA! Sunday, October 27. We have our assigned spot, which is on the west side of Scott Avenue, just south of the Temple of Music & Art (Arizona Theater Company). We will be situated in the handicap parking bays that you can see in the photo here.
The Cyclovia website & interactive map is here: https://app.cycloviatucson.org/map
We will have our shade structures up.
We understand that there will be porta-potties at the closest hub, which is at Sixth Ave and 13th St.
Be at the location by 9:00 am, ready to play by 9:30 or so. We will have soft drinks and some snacks. Bring a chair, your music stand and protection against the sun. Bring a WATER BOTTLE. Wear your TUKU t-shirt, or an Hawaiian shirt, or a blue shirt. Expressing yourself with a hat is encouraged.
The song list is in a special folder HERE.
We can expect to go through the song list several times. The songs in the CYCLOVIA folder are in numerical order. There will not be wi-fi, so please download or print out in advance.
To avoid the somewhat chaotic scene of the last Cyclovia, one of our leaders will be standing at the front, to one side, to try to ensure that the tempo and the start of each song proceeds in an orderly fashion. Not that we are trying to be the boss of you, but….
We usually play till about 2:30, when our fingers are ready to fall off.
If you can’t come for the entire time, please feel free to come for a chunk of the time.
TUKU beginners are entirely welcome. This is really like an extended Sunday practice, with a very mobile audience. No stress.
PARKING: You have several options. You can find street parking (metered parking is free on weekends). You can park in one of the downtown parking structures and walk. You can use Uber or public transportation from a convenient location outside of downtown. You can carpool. If you go to Apple Maps or Google Maps and search for the Temple of Music & Art or “parking near the Temple of Music & Art,” you can take a look for yourself.
